EV Registrations in MN

October 3, 2019 | and | Education

Drive Electric MN and the Great Plains Institute work with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) to track statistics on the growth of electric vehicles (EVs) in Minnesota. Each year, every vehicle owner in Minnesota is required to register their vehicle with the state. By tracking the number of different makes and models, and their general locations, we can get a sense of how widespread EVs are becoming each year. All driver information is kept private by DPS; we simply see the number of EVs down to the zip code across Minnesota.

You can explore our data on EV registrations below. If you click on the layer list button on the left of the map, you can turn on and off a variety of data, including geographic boundaries like counties and legislative districts, and infrastructure such as charging stations and planned EV charging corridors.

Below this map, we’ve also provided a variety of PDF maps that you can download or print.
